Bought this for one of our 3 grandkids (all under a year old) for Christmas and within a month we bought 2 more for the other babies. This is a great toy for when they first start holding/playing with toys. They love the sound and lights, we love that they won’t hurt themselves when they’re waving it around.

Great infant toy that can be used in a variety of ways
I loved how this toy played 12 nursery songs, some nature sounds, some funny sounds, made baby cooing and laughing sounds when you moved the elephant back and forth, and lit up. This toy also had different textures for a baby to explore such as soft arms, legs, head, and trunk and a hard body. This toy definitely appeals to a baby’s senses. It is a perfect toy for children who are in the sensory motor stage of development (a stage where children 0 to 2 years of age explore their environment through their senses). This toy could be used to promote child parent/care giver interaction or to help put the baby a sleep. I gave this toy musical elephant to my 6 month old great nephew as a Christmas present. He loved it , especially when I turned it on and had it play all of the different nursery songs, sounds, and light that blinked. He loved putting it’s ears and trunk in his mouth. This toy is non toxic. It requires two triple A batteries. The battery compartment is very secure. It requires a screw driver to open it and close it. This type of compartment makes it impossible for a baby to get into the compartment, take the batteries out of it, put them into their mouth, and accidentally swallow them. Not only is it childproof, I also found it adult proof to open. I had a difficult time opening this compartment. I needed my brother in laws help to open it. It can be opened though, with some patience. I didn’t like the way that the advertisement for the toy didn’t tell me that two triple A batteries were required, to get the toy to work. I was lucky that my sister had a couple that she could give me to put in it. I wanted this toy elephant to work for my great nephew. Other than that problem I experienced with it, I thought that toy was the perfect Christmas present for my great nephew and other babies in that developmental stage.
